Table Tennis Top 6ft x 3ft
Table tennis or table top tennis played on table tennis tables has only been around for about 120 years, it started in England as an improvised parlour game, using cigar boxes as the paddles or bats and a champagne cork as the ball. Jacques the games manufacturer called it ping pong and made proper table tennis equipment in the early 1900's . Since then of course the game has become an Olympic sport and even has professional players playing for big money and millions of people playing every week.
The technology for table tennis equipment has mushroomed especially with the table tennis bats, spin is now a big part of the game with different compounds on the bats to impart spin, and the speed of the game has also increased, so much so the ITTF, the table tennis governing body, has introduced a larger ball, 40 mm, to slow the game down for television viewers.
tournament rule for the size of the table is that it is 9 feet x 5 feet
and 30 inches high. (2.74 m long,
1.525 m wide, and 76 cm high)
Notice we have indoor and outdoor versions of table tennis tables, obviously the outdoor versions have been treated so they can be left outdoors. The tables come in various sizes from beginners size to full size ITTF regulation tables.
